Calm with Character: Le Taj in a Jajo & Co Home

When Jajo & Co set out to design this home, their philosophy was simple: calm with character. The calm comes from a soft, tonal palette. The character comes from shape, form and texture. The result is a home that feels tranquil and refined, yet never flat. It’s quiet luxury with real warmth and depth.

Subtle curves soften the interiors and complement the contemporary architecture. Layered textures, natural materials and sculptural forms add personality. Every detail feels effortless yet intentional, from the tactile wall finishes to the bespoke joinery and stonework.

With a largely beige-on-beige palette, the design team needed a stone that could add gentle variation without disturbing the sense of calm. Le Taj was an immediate fit. Its blend of beige, white and soft grey undertones brought subtle complexity to the scheme, lifting the surrounding laminate and floor tiles while staying beautifully understated.

But the choice came down to more than looks. A key feature of the design was a series of seamless curved forms, which required the stonemason to grind and soften the edges. Jajo & Co tested samples from several suppliers. Le Taj was the only stone that held its colour and integrity through the grinding process, without whitening at the edges.

Its full-body colour and veining allowed the team to push the material beyond a conventional application and achieve the refined detailing at the heart of the design.

In this home, Le Taj works as more than a surface. It is part of the home’s sculptural language. Its softened edges echo the curves found throughout the interiors, creating continuity between architecture, joinery and materials. Rather than standing apart, the stone becomes part of a visual rhythm that guides the eye through the space.

The gentle movement and warm tonal variation in Le Taj bring texture and depth to a quiet palette. This lets the architecture and craftsmanship speak through considered details rather than excess.

It’s a home that is contemporary yet timeless, where luxury is expressed through restraint and character lives in the details.
